The "easy to declare, hard to prove" mentality is absolute bullshit, but it's so strong. I had to walk out of a tute at uni once, as everyone was trying to defend a *hypothetical rapist* using victim blame. A room full of people -men and women- telling me that a girl *deserved to be raped* is really difficult to deal with.
